Toby Alderweireld

The Mirror reports that Toby Alderweireld could still be on his way out of Tottenham as Bayern Munich see him as a replacement for their German defender, Jerome Boateng.

The report adds that the Belgian wanted to move to Manchester United before the end of the Premier League transfer window but a deal could not be completed.

Boateng was a target for United too but they wanted to sign him on loan and not permanently. The Mirror further adds that the World Cup winner has now agreed to terms with Paris Saint-German and that could create a vacancy at the Bayern.

The report adds that Alderweireld is on a shortlist of potential replacements for Boateng. Munich do have a couple of weeks should they want to finalise a move for Alderweireld as the European transfer window ends on 31st August.

Alderweireld did not play in our 2-1 win over Newcastle on the opening day and there is a lot of competition for the centre-back spots as Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen seem to be doing very well as a pair.

Alderweireld is one of the best defenders in the world and it would be a shame if we lose him. However, it would be better if we end up selling him to a non-Premier League team rather than offloading him to Manchester United or a top-four rival.

It will also be interesting to see how much we can get for the defender as Bayern are one of the biggest teams in the world. Daniel Levy would try to get as much money as possible for the Belgian.
