Tottenham’s new £850m stadium won’t be ready till the first week of January, according to some insiders.

Construction News reports that the workforce around the ground has dropped since the club announced a delay in the project.

The insiders further claimed that they would not be surprised if Tottenham decided to inaugurate the stadium in the summer.

The source was quoted by Construction News saying:

“It’s gone from about fourth gear down to about second gear, now it’s just idling. But it’s ticking along.

“The pace has come down, but the right areas are being focused on to get it finished.”

“It will take a bit more time, but I think Tottenham realise that, and they’ll get a better product at the end of it instead of something that’s just rushed.”

The report adds that Daniel Levy and Tottenham owner Joe Lewis visited the site a couple of weeks ago.

Previously, Tottenham had announced that the venue would be delayed till October but this comes as a big blow for the club.

Not playing our home games at the new ground until 2019 will affect our schedule and it will be interesting to see if we stick to Wembley till then.

We play our Champions League home games at the national stadium and will use Stadium MK for the Carabao Cup clash against Watford.

The lack of planning has been awful, to say the least, and the club still haven’t provided an official date for the new stadium despite these delays.
