Tottenham against Tranmere in FA Cup
Tottenham during their win over Tranmere in the FA Cup

Tottenham thrashed Tranmere 7-0 in the third round of the FA Cup with Fernando Llorente coming up with a hat-trick.

The Spaniard was not the only player that impressed as Serge Aurier got a brace. Son Heung-min was the other scorer while Harry Kane got a late goal too.

Tranmere were holding on in the first half and we only got one goal, a thumping drive from 25 metres in the 40th minute.

The floodgates opened in the second half with Llorente, Son and Aurier scoring in quick succession. The Spaniard completed his hat-trick in the 72nd minute after two goals in two minutes and Kane was brought on for a few minutes before finding the back of the net.

This was a pretty easy win for us and the perfect way to set up our Carabao Cup clash against Chelsea. There were some youngsters on show too, and here are the player ratings from the tie.

Paulo Gazzaniga – 6.5/10

Gazzaniga had an easy night and only needed to make a few comfortable saves against the lower league team.

Juan Foyth – 8/10

The Argentine tried to win the ball and start play as often as he could, and that helped set the tone of the game. He did have some great tackles and a block to keep a shut-out.

Davinson Sanchez – 8/10

Sanchez was another player that had a relatively easy evening and did well in the air too.

Serge Aurier celebrates

Ben Davies – 7.5/10

The left-back was shifted to the heart of the defence in a back three and did a stellar job alongside his younger teammates.

Serge Aurier – 8.5/10

Aurier did a great job on his return to the side with a couple of quality goals. The Ivorian did great in attack and defence, but he won’t have such easy nights all the time.

Dele Alli – 7/10

Captain for the evening, Alli played in a deeper position than usual but did a decent job in the second half.

Oliver Skipp – 7.5/10

The youngster lost possession a few times but got his groove later in the game as he assisted a couple of goals too.

Kyle Walker-Peters – 7/10

The Englishman did a decent job for us as a wing-back but didn’t have the greatest of nights in the attack.

Lucas Moura – 6.5/10

Moura must be thinking how he could not score against Tranmere. The Brazilian had several chances but could only record one assist for Tottenham.

Son Heung-min – 9/10

The South Korean was immense as he ran things against Tranmere. Son might have gotten one goal but had a role in many of the other efforts.

Fernando Llorente – 9/10

The Spaniard was replaced with 15 minutes to go but he did a great job of scoring a hat-trick and looking decent. Llorente hasn’t received many minutes for Spurs, but this was a reminder of what he can do, however, he was playing against lower league opposition.

Substitutes

George Marsh – 7/10

The youngster came on for his debut and did a fairly decent job.

Timothy Eyoma – NA

Got a few minutes on the pitch.
