Tottenham vs Crystal Palace ratings: Tottenham player ratings

Tottenham moved back into third place in the Premier League with their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, but this was a special night as a new era dawned on the London club.

Spurs finally played a senior game in their new home ground, and it was worth the wait as Son Heung-min and Christian Eriksen got the goals in an important win.

Tottenham hadn’t picked up three points from a Premier League game in five outings, but this performance should calm their nerves for the final set of clashes.

Palace had their opportunities to score but they seem to be affected by the stadium opening, which was spectacular.

There could be more magic at the stadium with the Champions League quarter-finals against Manchester City next, but for now, here are the player ratings for the Spurs players.

Tottenham player ratings

Hugo Lloris – 7/10

This was a comfortable night for Lloris, after his error at Anfield. The captain was barely troubled until the second half where he made a couple of quality saves.

Kieran Trippier – 7/10

A decent performance from Trippier after some tough outings in recent weeks. Barely gave Wilfried Zaha a look at the goal.

Toby Alderweireld – 7/10

Another typical performance from Alderweireld at the back. Toby barely broke a sweat and looked in good touch.

Jan Vertonghen – 7.5/10

Toby’s partner at the back also had a decent game and ensured that the Palace strikers didn’t have a sniff at Lloris’ goal for most of the game.

Ben Davies – 7/10

The Welsh defender had one brilliant tackle to show and did a decent job with Danny Rose ahead of him.

Moussa Sissoko – 8/10

Possibly the best player on the night, Sissoko was everywhere on the pitch, in a good way, and kept Palace in control for most of the game.

Dele Alli – 6.5/10

Alli was played in a deeper role than usual, and the Englishman did a decent job as Spurs came out with the win.

Christian Eriksen – 7/10

A much better performance from the Dane as he was great in the first half. Eriksen was the only one alive to the ball when Harry Kane’s shot was blocked and the Dane made no mistake to score our second goal.

Son Heung-min – 7/10

Tottenham could not have had a more popular first goal scorer at the new ground than Son. The South Korean’s deflected shot went past the Palace keeper, but no one will care as Son made history.

Danny Rose – 6/10

It was a bit of a surprise seeing Rose start on the wing, but the Englishman carried on from his second half performance at Anfield. There wasn’t a lot of quality from Rose in the final third but this was a decent outing.

Harry Kane – 7/10

Kane tried his best to get on the scoresheet but sometimes things don’t go your way. The England captain had a role to play in our second goal but had a header go wide and also curled a shot above the bar when it looked like he would score.

Substitutes

Harry Winks – 6/10

Winks needed some minutes after being out for a while, and this run should do him good for the remainder of the season.

Lucas Moura – 5/10

The Brazilian was one of our better players against Liverpool and saw a great effort saved by the Palace keeper late on.
