Spurs news: Tottenham fans react as Son Heung-min creates history against Crystal Palace

Tottenham finally moved into their new stadium and rounded off the occasion with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Spurs had chances to open the scoring in the first half but had to wait till the second. Son Heung-min created history by becoming the first scorer at the new stadium, albeit with a deflected strike.

The South Korean has been one of the stars for the club this season, but had seen his goals dry up in recent weeks.

Son scores an important goal

Tottenham were on a five-game winless streak in the Premier League before this victory. Spurs had collected just one point from those five games and were dragged into the battle for the Champions League spots.

Spurs were clear of the chasing trio of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal at one stage. The win lifted us back to third in the league and we lie one point ahead of the Gunners, who have played one game less.

This effort was Son’s first goal for Spurs in eight games, and you could see the happiness and relief etched on his face after the ball went in.

The South Korean is one of the most popular players at Tottenham, and has been brilliant for us since joining from Bayern Leverkusen.

Christian Eriksen wrapped up the win with a goal in the 80th minute. However, many Tottenham supporters could not be happier with Son scoring the goal.
