Latest Spurs news: Nine-man Tottenham lost to Bournemouth 1-0 in crazy game
Tottenham blew their chance of ensuring a top-four finish after their 1-0 loss to Bournemouth.
Spurs knew a win against the Cherries would have guaranteed Champions League football next season, and the team started off well with Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min taking shots at debutant keeper Mark Travers.
It seemed only a matter of time before Spurs would have scored but Eric Dier was lucky to escape a second yellow card for a tackle on the half-way line.
The Englishman also escaped a penalty shout when he hacked a Bournemouth player. However, another Spurs player was sent off before the half-time whistle.
Son sees red
Son didn’t play against Ajax in the Champions League first leg semi-final but he lost his cool by pushing Jefferson Lerma in front of the referee.
Craig Pawson rightly produced the red card for the South Korean but Lerma had actually scraped the Spurs attacker.
Hugo Lloris was also lucky not to give a penalty away as he barged into Josh King.
Mauricio Pochettino switched things by bringing on Juan Foyth and Victor Wanyama for the booked pair of Toby Alderweireld and Dier at half-time.
That didn’t work out too well with Foyth being sent off a couple of minutes after coming on. Tottenham had to play most of the second half with nine men.
Bournemouth dominated after that and it was a tough evening for Moura as he did well as the only forward.
Tottenham held on deep into stoppage time but Nathan Ake scored the winner from a corner.
Spurs now have to think about the Champions League tie in midweek, but many fans were unhappy at how the team unravelled at the Vitality.
Son and Foyth should be ashamed of themselves, absolutely unacceptable

I’m proud of the fight from the 9 men left on at the end. Inexcusable from Foyth and Son though.
