Latest Spurs news: Several Spurs fans upset with Jefferson Lerma after Son Heung-min’s red card
Tottenham could have confirmed Champions League football with a win over Bournemouth at the Vitality.
Spurs had lost to Ajax in the Champions League semi-final first leg but had Son Heung-min returning to the starting XI.
The South Korean was suspended for the first leg against Ajax and started brightly against the Cherries.
Lucas Moura was doing pretty well but things took a crazy turn either side of half-time.
Tottenham see two red cards
Son picked up a red card after pushing Jefferson Lerma right before half-time.
The Bournemouth star seemed to scrape the South Korean and the Spurs attacker seemed to retaliate, but it was an inexcusable move and the ref had no choice and sent Son off.
Juan Foyth was brought on at half-time for the booked Toby Alderweireld and the Argentine too was given his marching orders for a high challenge just after the break.
Spurs played with nine-men and almost held on for a crucial point. However, Nathan Ake had other ideas as he scored in stoppage time.
Tottenham were also lucky not to give away a couple of penalties while Eric Dier could have been sent off for two bookable offences.
Son’s red was surprising as the South Korean is one of the calmest players on the pitch. The South Korean barely puts a foot wrong on the pitch, and many Tottenham fans were unhappy that no action was directed at Lerma for his actions before the sending off.
Some even highlighted a previous incident in the game where he knocked Son down, but not action was taken against him.

Lerma punched Son’s back. Why no card for him? pic.twitter.com/NMqkImZjvf

What about the player that punched him in the back that he retaliated to. Wasn’t his a bookable offence? Why do they never look at the whole thing and see why it happened???

I will admit, a TERRIBLE reaction from Sonny, but I understand his frustration. Just got fouled hard, then gets his foot stomped trying to set the free kick.

The ref is a joke

Lerma’s reaction was as bad as bamford against villa. He gave son a little kick, so son pushed him! I didn’t realize that pushing is a red? The ref has obviously reacted to the play acting

Sonny wouldn’t have acted like that for no reason. Steps on Sonny and at the same time Lerma punches Sonny on the back as he goes to get the ball. Of course he reacted. pic.twitter.com/ECiquBsX16
