Latest Spurs news: Damien Comolli reveals that Tottenham had targeted Hugo Lloris when the keeper was 21
Damien Comolli gave a detailed interview ahead of the Champions League final between Tottenham and Liverpool, to the Independent.
The Frenchman enjoyed senior roles at both clubs as he was involved in some of the transfer decisions. Comolli spoke about his methods of targeting players and highlighted that Hugo Lloris could have been at Tottenham earlier than 2012.
The French keeper was coming through the ranks at Nice and we were interested in him but Lloris ended up at Lyon before joining Spurs.
Comolli brought up the football research done at Tottenham and spoke about Lloris (h/t Express):
“They are the ones, Ian Graham and Decision Technology, who identified Hugo Lloris when he was 21 [and playing for Nice].
“We knew Hugo from a scouting perspective, but the data showed us how good he was at 21, and how good he could become with being more mature.”
Spurs did pretty well by signing Lloris from Lyon for £13m (h/t Express), and the French keeper is one of the best out there even though he makes one or two errors.
Lloris could end the season on a high
The Frenchman led his national team to the World Cup title in the previous summer and could lift the Champions League with Spurs.
Tottenham face Liverpool in the Champions League final on Saturday and the keeper has to have a great game to keep the Reds from scoring.

Spurs would want revenge for the two Premier League losses handed to us this season and there would be no better way to achieve that than by winning the Champions League.
