Latest Spurs news: Christian Eriksen happy to not face Manchester City in Champions League final

Christian Eriksen is one of our most important players ahead of the Champions League final against Liverpool.

The Dane didn’t have a great start to the season but showed his class in the second half with some crucial goals and assists.

The former Ajax star spoke to BBC Sport about the final and conceded that he didn’t want to face Manchester City any more (h/t Manchester Evening News):

“It’s a final so it doesn’t really matter who you play. But of course, playing against Liverpool we’ve played them a lot in the last few years and of course every year you do it.

“I’m just happy it wasn’t City, I think we’ve played City enough this year!”

Spurs have seen enough of City this season

Tottenham played the Premier League champions three times in the span of 11 days, thanks to their Champions League quarter-final tie.

Although City won two of the games, we were able to knock them out of the Champions League via the away goals rule.

We also beat them at the new stadium in the European competition by a solitary goal, and these are the kind of performances that have helped us reach the final in Madrid.

Eriksen is right in suggesting that it doesn’t matter who we face in the final as anything can happen in a one-off game.

Liverpool are also tough opposition like any team in a final, and Eriksen needs to have a great game if we are to defeat the Merseysiders.
