Latest Spurs news: Julien Laurens highlights Tanguy Ndombele’s incredible progress in recent seasons

Tottenham sealed a club record move to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon.

The BBC reports that Spurs agreed on a deal worth £53.8m which could rise to £62.8m with incentives to land the highly-rated Frenchman.

Ndombele had only joined Lyon in 2017 and grew in stature at the Ligue 1 giants. He was one of their best performers last season as they finished third, and impressed in the Champions League too.

The 22-year-old still has a long way to go in football and can improve further, however, Julien Laurens, a French football expert highlighted that Ndombele was without a club five years ago.

The midfielder was released by Guingamp and had to join Amiens. Ndombele was playing in the fifth division of French football before he got his break in the senior Amiens side in Ligue 2.

This highlights the incredible spirit of Ndombele, as his hard work is finally paying dividends.

The French midfielder is now a regular for the national team and was considered as one of the best in Ligue 1.

The 22-year-old was one of the best in a star-studded Lyon team and didn’t feel out of place when up against Barcelona and Manchester City in the Champions League.

It will be interesting to see how he does at Tottenham but should hit the ground running from day one.
