Spurs transfer news: Tottenham offer free agent Fernando Llorente new deal

The Evening Standard reports that Tottenham have offered Fernando Llorente reduced terms after his £100,000-a-week contract ended at Spurs.

The Spanish attacker became a free agent after the expiry of his contract with Tottenham, and Spurs could increase their attacking options by re-signing Llorente (h/t Evening Standard).

The 34-year-old is not part of our pre-season tour of Asia, and the report claims that he is considering his options before deciding on his future.

Serie A’s Fiorentina are also interested in the centre-forward with Llorente also open to a return to Spain (h/t Evening Standard).

Llorente scored some important goals for us last season

The Spaniard got to start a lot more games than expected due to Harry Kane’s ankle problems.

Llorente isn’t the most mobile striker or the quickest, but his physical presence and aerial prowess helped us in several games.

The former Juventus star scored a crucial goal in the second leg Champions League clash against Manchester City. The Spaniard also played a huge role in our win over Ajax in the semi-finals.

The 34-year-old joining on reduced terms would not be the worst deal if we can keep Kane fit for most of the season.

Llorente can do a decent job in the domestic cup games or against lower–evel opposition, and he would not cost a transfer fee either.
