Spurs transfer news: Spanish reports claim Lo Celso deal is off the table

Tottenham’s hopes of signing Argentine sensation Giovani Lo Celso could be over, according to ABC De Sevilla (h/t Sun).

Spurs have been linked with the Real Betis star this summer and the report claims that the La Liga giants are frustrated with how Tottenham are going about the deal.

Betis are upset over Tottenham and Lo Celso’s attitudes regarding the possible move and have pulled out of a deal (h/t Sun).

The 23-year-old could still be on his way out of Betis, with the club talking to other interested parties (h/t Sun).

A big blow to Tottenham’s plans

This would come as a major blow to Tottenham, who need another signing or two in the summer.

Lo Celso could have been the goalscorer we needed in the midfield, and the Argentine has the potential to develop further under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine could have been a long-term replacement for Christian Eriksen too, who has spoken about taking up a new challenge.

Daniel Levy is known to drive a hard bargain and it will be interesting to see if we are back in the race for Lo Celso again.

Tottenham do not have a lot of time to move for other targets, with the transfer window shutting on Thursday.

Spurs have only added Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke to their team this season.
