Tanguy Ndombele was one of the stars in our 3-1 win over Aston Villa. The Frenchman made his competitive debut on Saturday and scored the goal of the game.

The 22-year-old had some bright moments in the game and should improve with more minutes in the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino was pleased with the performance of the former Lyon star but warned that the Frenchman wasn’t playing to his potential (h/t Evening Standard):

“It was a fantastic performance [by Ndombele].

“But to be honest there is a lot to improve, he only showed 30 or 40 percent of his potential. He has amazing potential to improve.”

The Argentine added that the goals column was one aspect of Ndombele’s game that needs improvement:

“[Scoring] one of the aspects he needs to work on, he didn’t score too many goals at Lyon, but that is one of the areas that is a target for him to improve this season. It is so early, in his first game he scored.”

Pochettino concluded by saying he was delighted with how the midfielder had adapted to a new country and a new league.

Ndombele turns the game around

The French midfielder’s goal was the turning point in the game and Harry Kane scored a brace to ensure the points went our way.

Ndombele was involved throughout the game and even made some runs into the box. The Frenchman can do it all from the heart of the park, and it will be interesting to see how he develops this season.
