Spurs transfer news: Jenas claims Tottenham shouldn’t sell Eriksen for less than £50m

Former Tottenham star Jermaine Jenas has urged Spurs to not sell key midfielder Christian Eriksen for anything less than £50m.

According to Jenas (h/t BBC), Tottenham had a very good transfer window but the strength of their squad outlook would completely change if Eriksen departs.

The English pundit feels that Eriksen is a key factor in Tottenham winning a trophy under Pochettino. Jenas wrote,

Eriksen’s importance to the team was quite clear even just in Saturday’s win against Aston Villa, when he came on in the last half an hour with Spurs 1-0 down.

I think Spurs have had a very good summer transfer window in terms of the players they have brought in, but it would change my outlook on the strength of their squad if they lose Eriksen – and certain other players – now.

I hope Eriksen stays, because he is so valuable to their chances of winning a trophy under Mauricio Pochettino.

Jenas is completely right in what he’s saying. Christian Eriksen is an absolutely key part of our squad and he would easily help us win a trophy soon.

It is very important that we break our trophy duck under Pochettino as this is by far the best Tottenham team in recent years.

This is our best chance to go all the way and win silverware, and our Champions League run last season is a testament to the fact that we are capable of challenging for trophies.

Let’s hope that Eriksen ends up signing a contract extension with the club. In case the club decides to sell him, they shouldn’t do it for anything cheap and surely, Levy would play a huge role in this.
