Spurs transfer news: Tottenham might be forced to recall Clarke from Leeds

Tottenham made a smart signing in the summer by nabbing Jack Clarke from Leeds United.

The 18-year-old is one of the brightest talents in the Championship and Spurs had to send the Englishman back on loan to Leeds.

Mauricio Pochettino and Marcelo Bielsa share a great relationship, but the Express claims that Spurs might have to make a decision on Clarke’s future due to an EFL rule.

The rule states that clubs cannot have more than five loanees in their match-day squad and Leeds currently have six on their side.

The Express claims that one player has to miss out regularly and Clarke hasn’t featured in any of the Championship games for Bielsa this season.

The English winger played in the Carabao Cup win over Salford City and has also featured for the U23s at Elland Road.

Tottenham have an option to recall Clarke

The report adds that Spurs have the option to recall Clarke, however, it is too early in the season to activate that clause.

The English winger doesn’t have a future at Leeds as he will join Spurs next season, and Bielsa might be tempted to play other players instead.

Clarke needs to play first-team football and making him play for the Leeds U23 side doesn’t make sense.

The youngster could feature in the cup games at Tottenham and for our U23s too. However, the winger needs to play regular football to ensure his development.
