Latest Spurs news: Tottenham in danger of ending up in another Champions League Group of Death

Tottenham made the final of the Champions League in the previous season and will want to go one better this season as the competition gets underway from September.

However, the draw for the tournament can play a huge role in a team making it to the final. An easy group will allow quick passage into the knockout rounds, and reduce some of the drama.

Tottenham have played in a couple of tough groups recently with the last one containing Barcelona and Inter Milan, however, the Evening Standard claims we could end up facing difficult opponents again.

Spurs are the only English side in Pot 2, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City part of Pot 1.

That has bumped Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid to Pot 2. Inter Milan are in Pot 3, with Lyon and Bayer Leverkusen as the other heavy hitters, while Pot 4 features Atalanta, Lille and RB Leipzig, to name a few.

Tottenham could end up in a tough group that could include Barcelona, Inter and Leipzig, and that would be another tough test for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Tottenham could also be in line for an easy group

Pot 1 also contains one champion that should not pose a huge threat to Tottenham – Zenit St Petersburg.

Spurs could end up in a group featuring Genk, Olympiakos and Zenit should things fall their way, and it will be interesting to see who we end up facing in the competition.
