Latest Spurs news: Stokes claims he might support Tottenham now

England’s Ashes hero Ben Stokes claimed he could start supporting Tottenham now.

The all-rounder scored an excellent 135 not out to help the hosts defeat Australia in the Third Test of the Ashes.

The knock is possibly one of the greatest ever in the game of cricket, and it was celebrated wildly all across the country.

The Sun reports that Stokes was shown a video of several Tottenham fans celebrating the win in the new stadium. Stokes claimed that he didn’t support any football club, but that could change now (h/t Sun):

“I’ve been looking for a football team to support to be honest. I don’t [support anyone], but I might have to support Tottenham now.”

The Englishman has had a great six months or so for the national side as he helped England land the World Cup too in dramatic fashion against New Zealand.

Tottenham need to emulate Stokes

Stokes has had his problems off the field but that hasn’t affected his performances on it.

Spurs have also had some issues in recent months with the move into the new stadium and contract situations with some stars.

However, we need to pick up some silverware and came close to winning the Champions League last season.
