Spurs transfer news: Edwards ends Tottenham career and joins Vitoria
Tottenham were able to keep hold of their best players as the European transfer window ended, however, they did allow Marcus Edwards to leave.
The 20-year-old was sold to Portuguese side Vitoria as the transfer window ended.
The Englishman was one of the highest-rated youngsters coming through the Tottenham academy, however, things never fell into place for the midfielder.
Edwards spent time on loan at Norwich City and Excelsior but failed to make a huge impact at either club.
The Englishman did make one senior appearance for us in a League Cup clash against Gillingham in 2016.
Fans wish Edwards good luck after the move
Losing Edwards isn’t a big blow given that the youngster was never able to showcase his best for any of the clubs he joined.
Mauricio Pochettino has always given young players a chance to do well, but Edwards will remain one of the mysteries given the talent the Englishman had.
Pochettino had compared Edwards to Lionel Messi, but those comments seem to be out of place now. Many Tottenham fans were upset as to why Edwards was unable to reach the next level at Tottenham.
Other supporters wished him the best after his struggles at the club, and it will be interesting to see how he does at Victoria.
