Serge Aurier concentrating on campaign after failing to leave in the summer

Serge Aurier is ready to concentrate on Tottenham’s season ahead after failing to leave the club in the summer.

The Ivorian hasn’t played any games for us this season, which is a surprise given that Kieran Trippier left the club in the summer.

The former PSG man should get more minutes as Tottenham to return to action against Crystal Palace after the international break.

Aurier was asked about his future at the club and told Bal des Productions (h/t Football.london) that there wasn’t any competition for him at Tottenham.

The right-back further claimed that he wanted to leave but couldn’t, and was only thinking about the season ahead with Spurs:

“I’d simply decided to leave [this summer], which was normal for me.

“Many things were taken into consideration. In the end, I wasn’t able to leave.

“It proves the club trust me on a lot of points, and we’ll see.

“We’ll see how the season pans out, but for now, I’m here, the transfer window is shut and we need to concentrate on the campaign ahead.”

Tottenham need Aurier for now

There was no point in selling Aurier if we could not bring in a replacement, and the Ivorian is a decent back-up for Kyle Walker-Peters.

The 26-year-old should get more minutes when the cup competitions start and hopefully, he does well for us in the campaign.

Tottenham can plan for his exit in the winter window but should go ahead when they have a quality replacement in sight.
