Paul Merson claims Mauricio Pochettino could leave Tottenham next season

Former Arsenal and England star Paul Merson has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino could leave Tottenham at the end of the season.

Spurs were handed another loss in the Premier League as they were beaten by Leicester City. Tottenham have looked average in some games while we have looked impressive in the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Mauricio Pochettino

Merson wrote for his Sky Sports column and he couldn’t pinpoint what was going wrong at the club, but believed that five years under the Argentine has led to some stagnation:

“I’ve got to get this right – I don’t want to say get rid of Pochettino and everything’s right, but it’s just gone sour there. With everybody, the whole thing needs changing. They’re a good team, who are not going to win the league – once again.”

The pundit added that the players might have lost some motivation as winning the Premier League seems difficult. He also questioned the hunger of the players to perform well.

Merson believed that the manager could leave next season as Tottenham’s fall could affect the Argentine:

“Do I think Pochettino will be there next season? No. The only thing with that is that he will start to lose his credibility if they don’t stay where they are.”

Poch is still one of the best in the world

The start to this season has been tough and it hasn’t been helped with several injuries to our players.

Pochettino is still one of the best managers in the Premier League and we just need a bit of luck to get things going again.

It is difficult to see Pochettino leave as the Argentine has turned us into Champions League regulars.

Landing silverware will always make things better and hopefully, we win something under the boss this season.
