Mauricio Pochettino unsure if Jack Clarke will be recalled from Leeds

Jack Clarke has had a woeful time at Leeds United after rejoining the side on loan. The 18-year-old was one of the most impressive players for Leeds last season as they pushed for promotion.

However, his time on the pitch has been severely reduced as Leeds have many players on loan.

Jack Clarke

Mauricio Pochettino was asked what he made of Clarke’s situation at the Championship club, and the Spurs manager didn’t know what the future holds for the English winger (h/t Football.london):

“Jack Clarke is at Leeds now. He is playing for Leeds. He is our player but he is on loan. Of course, if you say to me today about Jack Clarke, I don’t know because today he has not got a place to come with us. What is going to happen in a few months, I don’t know.”

The manager was also asked if Clarke would be recalled in the January transfer window and replied (h/t Football.london):

“Today, no. Today no. But football is dynamic. It always changes.

“You know we have the people to look after Jack Clarke. We have the structure to look after him. I cannot think too much about Jack Clarke.”

Pochettino added that he couldn’t think about the 18-year-old in January as his main task was getting Tottenham’s season back on track with a win against Watford.

A surprising season for Clarke

Pochettino and Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa have a great relationship and it is surprising why things haven’t progressed for Clarke at the Championship side. Clarke needs to leave on loan in January for more game time.

Returning to Tottenham would not give him regular first-team minutes and another loan spell should be the right option for the 18-year-old.

Clarke could be a job for us next season but that is dependent on how things go until the end of this campaign.
