Tottenham still interested in AS Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo

Tottenham are still interested in Italian sensation Nicolo Zaniolo, according to Spanish reports (h/t Calciomercato).

The AS Roma attacker has impressed for the Italians this season and has three goals and two assists so far.

The 20-year-old is an Italy international and can play in several positions across the attack.

Tottenham aren’t the only ones interested in him, with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid also keen on the 20-year-old.

There is interest from Serie A giants Juventus too and director Fabio Paratici watched the Italian in action against AC Milan (h/t Calciomercato).

Zaniolo is the next big thing in Italian football and it will be interesting to see if he leaves Roma.

Do Tottenham need more attacking options?

Spurs were linked with Zaniolo in the summer but the Italian remained with the Serie A side (h/t Express).

Roma aren’t doing too badly at the moment as they lie just one point outside the Champions League spots.

Harry Kane of Tottenham

Our season has been poor considering we reached the Champions League final the last time around.

We lost to Liverpool despite taking the lead and have struggled in several games this season too.

Our attack hasn’t been at its best and we could do with Zaniolo joining the side. The Italian could play just behind Harry Kane or can do a job out wide too.

That kind of versatility could help Mauricio Pochettino get the best out of the club, however, Roma need to be open to selling their star too.

Tottenham close to signing Steven Bergwijn in £30million deal

The North London club are currently in the market for another attacker after the injury that Harry Kane sustained. Bergwijn was left out of the PSV squad to face FC Twente.

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is impressed by the versatility of the 22-year-old, who can play anywhere across the frontline. Bergwijn has played 24 times for PSV this season and has scored 5 goals and an impressive 10 assists.

Steven Bergwijn
Steven Bergwijn has won seven caps for the Netherlands national team

Mourinho and Daniel Levy met Bergwijn’s representatives last week and the player has a release clause of £30million and Tottenham’s bid is in that region as well. The winger came close to a move to Sevilla last season but instead chose to stay put and pen a contract extension until 2023.

It is debatable if Mourinho will be better served signing a versatile attacker than an out-and-out striker. Spurs already have the likes of Son Heung-Min and Lucas Moura who can play anywhere across the attack. What we currently lack is an infallible scorer to put the ball in the back of the net.

Leicester City are also said to be interested in the Bergwijn, who is a fan favorite in Eindhoven. (h/t Mirror)

Bergwijn has won three Eredivisie titles at Eindhoven. He was also nominated as the UEFA European Under-17 Championship Golden boy in 2014. He has so far won 7 caps for the Dutch national team.

Tottenham are keen to re-sign Welsh superstar Gareth Bale

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on re-signing Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale in the January transfer window. (h/t Express)

Mourinho has been keen on adding to his squad in the January window following the injuries to Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko and Tanguy Ndombele. Signing Bale would be a statement given the Welsh international’s pedigree and status.

Bale currently earns £650,000-a-week at Madrid and it is difficult to imagine us offering anything close to the figure. A loan deal for the player is out of the question, with Madrid keen on a permanent switch.

The six-time Welsh player of the year has been a hit in the Spanish capital and was a part of the Madrid squad that won four UEFA Champions League crowns from 2013 to 2018.

Bale has, however, never been a fan favourite with the Madrid faithful and has received nowhere near the adulation he was used to at White Hart Lane. Injuries have limited the winger’s appearances this season, with him making just 17 appearances.

Tottenham have made just one signing this month, with Portuguese midfielder Gedson Fernandes joining on loan. The signing of Bale can be a gamechanger in our push for the top-four.

Bale spent six fruitful years at Tottenham where he went from a promising talent to a superstar. He made 203 appearances for us, scoring 55 goals. He started out as a left-back before being transformed into a world-class winger. It remains to be seen if any deal can be reached for the winger.

Shashoua is an academy graduate who has represented the Tottenham Under-18 side 19 times, scoring six goals in the process.

The 19-year-old midfielder was also the captain of the Under-18 side and holds the distinction of being the first player to lead a Spurs side out at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

The loan move will reunite Shashoua with his brother Samuel, who is also on loan at Baleares until the end of the season. Samuel joined the Segunda side in August and has been central to the side’s push for promotion. (h/t Tottenham Hotspur)

Although it’s the second division, it will be a step up from the Under-18 level and will provide a good test for the young midfielder to grow. Adjusting to a foreign country and league will also be a good test for Shashoua’s resolve and temperament.

The youngster recently got called up for the England Under-21 squad and also agreed to a new deal to keep him at Tottenham till 2022.

With Hugo Lloris now back in the squad, Austin will be the fourth-choice goalkeeper at the club behind the likes of Paulo Gazzaniga and Michel Vorm. It makes sense for the youngster to be sent out on loan and continue his development at a club where he is more likely to get playing time.
