Mauricio Pochettino explains Tanguy Ndombele substitution in Sheffield United draw

It was another disappointing afternoon for Tottenham are they were held to a 1-1 draw by Sheffield United.

Tottenham took the lead through Son Heung-min in the 58th minute but were pegged back via a freak goal from George Baldock in the 78th minute.

Spurs tried to hit back but couldn’t get that second goal, and we ended up dropping more points in the race for the top four.

Tanguy Ndombele started the game but was eventually replaced at the start of the second half. Mauricio Pochettino was speaking after the game and claimed that the French midfielder never felt comfortable in the game (h/t Football.london).

Pochettino was then asked if the midfielder was injured, and the manager confirmed the Frenchman felt a niggle in the groin (h/t Football.london):

“We need to assess him now. I don’t know anything at this moment. He felt pain in his groin but I don’t know if that was before or during the game it happened.

“Yes, a strange situation because my feeling was that he wasn’t comfortable on the pitch but he said was ok during the game.”

The manager added that the doctor told him that Ndombele could not continue after the break, and said that the change could have affected the team.

Ndombele needs to be fit for Spurs

The Frenchman has made a decent impact since joining from Lyon this season. Ndombele has two goals and three assists for Spurs so far and has done better than our other summer signings.

The 22-year-old has missed some games this season due to an injury and hopefully, he is not out for a long time.
