Hugo Lloris highlights the extent of his elbow injury against Brighton

Hugo Lloris suffered a horrible injury in the defeat to Brighton over a month ago.

The Tottenham captain tried to collect a cross but as he tried to go over the goal-line, he slipped and tried to break the fall with his hands.

His left elbow buckled under the pressure and the Frenchman was in agony before leaving the pitch.

Lloris is expected to be out till 2020 and provided further details about the injury to L’Equipe (h/t Football.london):

“My injury? This is a rupture at the level of a ligament. I also suffered at the level of a muscle, under the biceps with a big lesion. I had surgery after 4 weeks.

“We left a chance that it heals naturally, but after four weeks we feared for the stability of the arm for the future. Since the start, it was planned like that. And it does not delay more than that the deadlines.”

Lloris not concerned about his career

Tottenham have struggled this season and haven’t won a league game since Lloris’ injury.

Paulo Gazzaniga has done well to replace the captain but Lloris was looking at the bright side of things.

The Frenchman claimed things happen on the football pitch and added he was lucky not to receive a fracture.

The 32-year-old also revealed how painful the injury was but wasn’t concerned about his future:

“Ah yes on the moment, I know it’s serious. I had rather felt a fracture but hey I was lucky.”

“At the moment, yes, the pain is unbearable. I have never experienced such pain but no I am not worried about my career.”

Spurs have to be careful regarding the Frenchman’s return from the injury. Lloris has to regain the stability and strength in his elbow and recently underwent surgery too.

Hopefully, the captain returns to full strength soon, and it will be interesting to see if Mauricio Pochettino decides to replace Gazzaniga when Lloris is back.
