Tottenham fans left in shock as Mauricio Pochettino leaves club

Tottenham made a shocking decision on Tuesday to sack Mauricio Pochettino after a tough start to the season.

Spurs face West Ham after the international break, and the timing of this decision is concerning.

We are just a few days from the trip to the London Stadium and Spurs have to find a replacement fast.

Tottenham released a statement regarding the decision to “relieve” Poch and the rest of the coaching staff (h/t TottenhamHotspur.com).

Daniel Levy was quoted saying:

“We were extremely reluctant to make this change and it is not a decision the Board has taken lightly, nor in haste.

“Regrettably domestic results at the end of last season and beginning of this season have been extremely disappointing.

“It falls to the Board to make the difficult decisions – this one made more so given the many memorable moments we have had with Mauricio and his coaching staff – but we do so in the Club’s best interests.”

Levy’s statement thanked Pochettino and the staff for all that they had done. The chairman also highlighted that we spent more than a year without a home ground and admired how Poch dealt with that situation.

Fans unhappy with decision

Pochettino’s hands were a bit tied with regards to new players coming in.

We went more than a year without landing some fresh talent but we got a few in the summer. However, many of our players haven’t been at their best while some are free agents at the end of the season.

The performances haven’t been there since the start of the season, and we are in danger of missing out on a Champions League spot.

However, Pochettino remains one of the best in the Premier League. Many fans had a go at the players for not backing the manager, while some targeted Levy.
