Tottenham interested in landing West Ham defender Issa Diop
Tottenham are keen on West Ham defender Issa Diop, according to Sky Sports.
The 22-year-old French centre-back has been a regular in the West Ham defence since joining from Toulouse. However, he hasn’t featured much since the 3-2 defeat by Spurs at the London Stadium.
Jose Mourinho also praised Diop when his Manchester United side were defeated by West Ham a couple of years ago (h/t Sky Sports).
The boss congratulated the scouting department of the Hammers for finding such the talent too (h/t Sky Sports).
West Ham want big bucks for Diop
The Hammers might be struggling a bit under Manuel Pellegrini but they do not want to sell Diop.
The report claims that the Hammers value him at more than £50m and it will be interesting to see if Spurs make a move for Diop.
Tottenham have some defensive concerns with Jan Vertonghen out of a contract in the summer. However, Toby Alderweireld penned a new deal to remain at Spurs for a few more years.
Sky Sports adds that Spurs see Diop as a long-term replacement for both Vertonghen and Alderweireld.
The pair are in their 30s, however, we do have Juan Foyth and Davinson Sanchez in our ranks too.
