A second bite of the cherry on the cards as Tottenham Hotspur rekindle interest in Edmond Tapsoba
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to buy a central defender in the upcoming summer transfer window, and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has provided his latest update around a probable target, Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba.
Tapsoba has been linked with a move to the North Londoners since last summer; however, no move materialized for the 25-year-old, with the Lilywhites moving for Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg instead. The Dutchman has been a revelation at N17 since moving to White Hart Lane in a deal that could rise to £43 million.
The print version of SportBILD (via Sport Witness) published back in February that the Lilywhites may renew their interest in the 25-year-old in the upcoming summer. Tottenham would have to compete for the Burkina Faso international with Premier League rivals Chelsea, and the Blues are also looking to ameliorate their defensive line.
However, the Bundesliga winners are said to be asking a hefty price for the services of their star centre-back.
Leverkusen hold firm as multiple clubs eye prized defender Tapsoba
Alongside Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, Manchester United are also interested in acquiring Edmond Tapsoba’s services, as Fabrizio Romano suggests the 25-year-old could be on the move this summer.
Fabrizio Romano suggests that while Tottenham are also interested in buying Tapsoba, he insists that Leverkusen have not yet settled on an asking price for the player so far.
Romano speaking to Caught Offside:
“Tottenham also showed an interest in Tapsoba in the past, but let’s see if they enter the running again. Bayer Leverkusen has not decided on a specific price yet.”
