Tottenham to abandon pursuit of Arda Guler after Ancelotti’s comments

Tottenham Hotspur’s aspirations to acquire the talented midfielder Arda Guler have hit a bit of a snag, as the young Turkish lad is set to stay put at Real Madrid. Talks were swirling around a potential move to Spurs, but those hopes have been dashed, leaving the North London lot to rethink their transfer strategy.

That is as per The Express. Guler’s time at Real Madrid has been a bit of a rollercoaster, what with a setback due to injury during pre-season that kept him on the sidelines for the early part of the 2023-24 season. When he finally got back into the swing of things, he found himself up against some stiff competition for those attacking spots, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr, and Rodrygo all staking their claim.

Now, despite the limited opportunities, Guler has managed to show glimpses of his potential, putting in some neat performances when he’s on the pitch. His recent goal-scoring exploits, particularly the crucial strike in Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Real Sociedad, have really highlighted his talent and ability to make an impact. In 16 appearances across all competitions this season, he has four goals to his name.

No Guler!

Real Madrid’s gaffer, Carlo Ancelotti, has come out and expressed his confidence in Guler’s future with the club, putting to bed any speculation about the lad leaving. Ancelotti has been full of praise for Guler’s work ethic. His knack for finding the back of the net makes it clear that he’s got an important role to play in the team’s long-term plans.

For Tottenham, this news of Guler staying put at Real Madrid is a bit of a blow. The midfielder’s potential and skill were right up their street, and they had high hopes of securing his services as part of their plans for the future. His ability to make things happen on the pitch, coupled with his youth and promising trajectory, made him a real attractive prospect for the Lilywhites.

But despite this setback, we know Big Ange would have a way around. He doesn’t need the best of all players to bring the attacking best out of his squad and we can trust him to trust the current lot of attack-minded players on Hotspur Way.

While the news of Guler’s decision may represent a setback, it is also a reminder of the unpredictable nature of the transfer market and the need for adaptability in pursuit of success. Ange has to get used to that unless we are a regularly featuring side in Europe’s elite club competition. Let’s get working towards that first!! Next up, London derby at Stamford Bridge. COYS !!!
