Tottenham star Richarlison says the club shall be more competitive next season

Brazilian striker Richarlison acknowledges that Tottenham’s chances of clinching a spot in the Champions League this season are a bit slim. After suffering a 4-2 defeat against Liverpool on Sunday, Spurs find themselves in fifth place on the table, trailing Aston Villa by seven points, who currently occupy the fourth and final Champions League qualification spot.

UEFA coefficients put Italy and Germany in a better position and that is why, England have only four UCL spots for the upcoming season. Despite the setback, Richarlison remains optimistic about Spurs’ future prospects and believes they can become more competitive in the upcoming season.

Speaking to ESPN, Richarlison noted the progress Tottenham has made in their style of play compared to the previous season. He praised the team for showcasing a more dynamic and aesthetically pleasing style of football, indicating a positive evolution in their gameplay.

“Look, we presented a much more dynamic and, let’s say, more elegant and beautiful football than last season,”

“But we have evolved, we have evolved a lot and I believe that, as of this week, it has already been announced that the coach will make changes, so I believe that next season he will be putting together a much more competitive team.”

No UCL next season for Spurs?

While Richarlison remains hopeful for Tottenham’s future, he acknowledges the current challenges they face in securing a Champions League berth this season. With four consecutive defeats in their recent matches, including the loss against Liverpool, the road to Champions League qualification appears challenging.

However, amidst the setbacks, there’s a glimmer of hope for Tottenham’s future under the leadership of Ange Postecoglou. The introduction of AngeBall has brought a refreshing change to Spurs’ style of play, with its emphasis on dynamic attacking football. While the current season may not yield the desired results, there’s optimism that with some tweaks and changes, as the boss also spoke about recently, Spurs can reach greater heights under Postecoglou’s guidance in the next campaign.

AngeBall has been instrumental in Tottenham’s progress this season, but there’s room for improvement, especially in defence. With a few adjustments and reinforcements in key areas, Spurs can strengthen their squad and make a more competitive push for Champions League qualification next season.
