Spurs explore hefty striker option

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a variety of strikers this summer as Daniel Levy & Co. look to sign a marquee center-forward in the summer transfer window, and the name of Brazilian international Evanilson has popped across the rumour mill off late.

The North Londoners are yet to replace Harry Kane, who left White Hart Lane to pursue pastures with Bayern Munich last summer. The departure of Kane, complemented by the expected desertion of Richarlison, means that the Lilywhites will be looking to bring in a new number nine in the off-season.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou did try out Son in the central role this season owing to the injury concerns of the former Everton star, and to be fair, it was a bit touch-and-go having the South Korean leading the line. The Australian gaffer will be looking to add more physical and dominant presence up front as he looks to raise the quality of the roster in this transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur may end up acquiring FC Porto’s in-form striker Evanilson, per Jornal de Notícias via Sport Witness. He has been in exemplary striking form in the recently concluded season, thirty goal contributions in all competitions for Porto, something that the North Londoners have duly missed this season.

However, any interests in him by Daniel Levy and officials at Hotspur Way are not serious at this point, as the report states that a possible sale of the Brazilian would be a “guarantee[d]” €100 million “jackpot” for Porto, which indicates that the Cidade Invicta looks at his sale as a ploy to intrigue potential bidders rather than a genuine assessment of his potential.

It is difficult to see Spurs send such hefty money for his services, especially when they can sign other alternatives with a higher ceiling and a lower acquisition cost.
