Tottenham captain Ledley King made his return to action in a behind closed doors friendly against West Ham midweek.

In a squad consisting mainly of youngsters returning from loan spells after the football league season ended, King and fellow centre back Sebastien Bassong were the only two senior squad players to participate in a game where Spurs came from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

It is the first action since the 2-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage back in October and, after coming through the match unscathed for the full 90 minutes, is likely to be avalable for selection for the remaining fixtures against Liverpool on Sunday and Birmingham City on May 22nd.

Mauricio made a name for himself as a central defender at Espanyol and Argentina, however, the younger Pochettino plays in the attack.

The 18-year-old prefers playing out wide but can take up the role of a striker too.

The youngster also featured in Tottenham’s first test event at the new stadium last season, and the report claims that he could feature in the EFL Trophy and play for the U23 side.

Sebastian Pochettino is also on the books of the club, but the older brother of Maurizio is a sports scientist at Tottenham.

Another star in the making?

Maurizio could be a decent player in the future and needs to keep working hard under his father.

The manager has a penchant for developing youngsters during his time in England, and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the younger Pochettino.

Tottenham had seen some stars return in the previous days with the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Son Heung-min and Moussa Sissoko joining them later.

Tanguy Ndombele

However, one player who certainly caught the eye in training was Tanguy Ndombele. The new signing from Lyon also participated in his first training session on the pitch.

The French midfielder was all smiles as he seemed to enjoy his time with other stars.

The French midfielder was snapped alongside Lucas Moura, as they continued the preparations for the upcoming campaign.

Latest Spurs news: Pochettino told Foyth to play as right-back last season

The Sun claims that Juan Foyth could play as a right-back next season. The Argentine started 10 Premier League games last season with a few appearances in other competitions too.

The youngster normally plays as a centre-back but slotted into the full-back position in a few games too.

The 21-year-old did a decent job in some games, but his first-team inexperience showed in some clashes, like the loss against Bournemouth where he was sent off.

However, his shift to the right-back slot came after a discussion with Mauricio Pochettino. The young Argentine spoke to Cielo Sports (h/t Sun) and added he felt comfortable playing as the right-back:

“That I’m playing as a full-back is all down to him.

“One day, we were doing laps around the field and he called me over to talk and asked me if I would feel comfortable playing there.

“Obviously, I wanted to play and knowing that I could do it well, I said yes. I felt really good in the games I played.”

Is Foyth the answer to our right-back issues?

Serge Aurier has had his problems since joining from PSG, with the Ivorian spending a lot of time on the treatment table.

On the other hand, Keiran Trippier struggled for consistency last season and had a poor campaign too.

Sky Sports reports that Trippier and Aurier are available for sale in the summer, and letting them both leave would see our right-back options become limited.

Kyle Walker-Peters is the only other senior right-back at Tottenham, and it will be interesting to see where Foyth plays if we lose Trippier or Aurier this summer.

Dier has also undergone a medical procedure to deal with the problem (h/t Football.london), and this will be a bit of a blow to the star.

Dier had his injury problems last season too

The Englishman struggled for fitness in the previous campaign and also had to undergo appendix surgery which kept him out for a month.

The 25-year-old also suffered a hip problem later in the season and missed some at the start of the campaign too.

Dier also struggled for form last season as we saw a pairing of Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks preferred by Mauricio Pochettino.
