Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has insisted that captain Ryan Shawcross will not be leaving the Britannia Stadium this summer.
Shawcross has been attracting attention from Tottenham after the club missed out on Phil Jones who recently signed for Manchester United.
Coates, on the other hand, has insisted that the 23-year-old will not be sold this summer.
“We see Ryan’s future at Stoke City. He is a very good young player and I expect him to be at Stoke next season,” Coates told The Sentinel.
“I think with Ryan and Robert Huth we have two of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, and we don’t want to change that.”
Reports suggest out of favour duo Wilson Palacios or Sebastien Bassong could be used as a make-weight in any deal that could see Shawcross move to Spurs.
