Tottenham moved up into fifth place in the Premier League table this weekend after they disposed of Aston Villa in Sunday’s late kick off.

Aston Villa welcome Tottenham to Villa Park looking to continue their 3 match unbeaten run. Tottenham, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat at home to West Ham

Tottenham’s sale of Gareth Bale ensured that they could splash out on other areas of the squad this summer, and while every position is looking strong, there is one position that looks slightly lacking to me – the left-back area.

Gareth Bale departed the club in well-documented circumstances, and while Spurs reinvested wisely, they have still lacked the bite and purpose that the Wales international provided whilst in north London.

 Tottenham are going through a transitional stage right now. The sale of Gareth Bale allowed them to splash out this summer and reinforce their squad with a wealth of new faces. Because of this, players have started missing out on first team football. Although this isn’t the club’s fault, nor is it AVB’s, it is happening. Here are three players who I believe should be playing more football, be it at White Hart Lane or elsewhere.

 With Andre Villas-Boas investing so heavily, it’s unlikely that he knows what his strongest side is. However, there are a number of faces who will know that they aren’t in it, so here are three players who I think the Portuguese boss should send on loan in the new year.

It seems that in current day football that if you have a storming performance in a single game it is enough to warrant a new big money contract extension. It supposedly happed with West Brom forward Saido Berahino after his display against Manchester United, and it has now happened with Andros Townsend after he showcased his talents on his England debut last week.

While the focus of Manchester United fans seems to be with the lack of game time that Japan international Shinji Kagawa is getting, another man has queitly been going about his business without a whimper. Javier Hernandez has managed just three bit-part appearances this season and not caused a fuss, apparently, but now – according to the Standard – the Mexican is ready to search for some playing time, with Spurs interested in securing his signature.

Maybe Roy Hodgson should take a squad of debutantes to Rio next year, as it appears that players making their first appearance for England are always the star performers.

If asked to choose an all north London 11 – players from only Arsenal and Tottenham – this is what my side would look like in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
