mauricio pochettino

A tough task lies ahead for the Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino. The 44-year-old Argentine manager did a fantastic job almost winning the league in the process, but now, he will be facing a tougher task next season.

The Premier League have welcomed some top class managers like Pep Guardilo, Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho and the league will be a pure battlefield from next season. Tottenham finished their campaign with a high note and by finishing 3rd in the table; they qualified for the Champions League.

The entire squad was absolutely brilliant in every department of the field. From defence to attack, every player gave their best to achieve the top honour. It is understood that the team won’t stop, and will be confident enough to challenge for the title once again and to achieve that, Pochettino will have to take some major actions.

The primary task for the manager would be the signings. If he tends to give a head to head competition to his opponents, he needs to strengthen his current squad. The Current Tottenham team is studded with youngsters, and they lack the European experience due to which, they might face an early elimination from the tournament. To avoid that, he needs to buy some faces, who could guide the talents to the glory.

Here, we will give you the list of players, who Tottenham must sell, and buy:

Outs:

  1. Nabil Bentaleb-

Bentaleb

The 22-year-old Algerian joined the Lilly-Whites back in January 2012 through their academy and his professional debut came in 2013. The Algerian international saw himself falling down the pecking order in Pochettino’s plans due the Renaissance of Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele last season and managed just 5 appearances to his name.

The Algerian missed most of the season due to injury, and to be honest, we don’t see him playing a major role for Pochettino in the upcoming season.  The 21-year-old is surely a great talent, but his lack of experience in top level football would definitely sink him down the drain and therefore, it will be better for him to leave the side.

  1. Tom Carroll-

Tom Carroll

The 24-year-old central midfielder signed a professional contract with Tottenham after scoring 10 goals in 23 games for their Academy side. The Premier League debut for the youngster came 2 years after signing the contract, i.e, in 2012. The 24-year-old Englishman has spent 4 loan spells in his career so far, and has been unable to mark a first team place in the squad.

Last season, he made just 19 appearances for the side in which 15 came as a substitute. As stated earlier, Tottenham’s midfield is studded with youngsters and as the Champions League football is on the cards, Pochettino would want players who would not  be a liability to the team. And with the arrival of Wanyama, the likes of Carroll and Bentaleb would find it difficult to find game time.

Ins:

  1. Alexandre Lacazette-

The 25-year-old Frenchman was one of the best performers in the French League last campaign as he scored 21 goals and made 3 assists in his 34 appearances for Lyon. Lacazette is also a reported target for rivals Arsenal and if he is available, the team should go for the Frenchman without wasting much time.

Tottenham, right at this very moment have only one perfect striker, i.e, Harry Kane and the boss cannot rely on him to perform in every single game. Tottenham needs a striker badly to complement the squad and for me, Lacazette would be the perfect option.

However, the latest reports from ESPN, states that AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen is close to a move to White Hart Lane. Be it Lacazette or Janssen, what Spurs need is a striker who can share Kane’s goal scoring burden.
