Vincent Janssen

So here it is! The London club Tottenham Hotspur, through their official website have confirmed that they have secured the signature of the 22-year-old Dutch international striker Vincent Janssen. Yesterday, it was reported that the 22-year-old striker was undergoing a medical with the Lilly-Whites ahead of his move to the club, and now, it has been announced officially.

Before his move, the player himself stated a desire to play for the North London club, but his club AZ, denied the move by rejecting Tottenham’s £15m bid by saying that he is worth more than that. Now, a fee of around £18.5m has been agreed and the striker has signed a contract with the Club until 2020.

This will give Harry Kane much-needed rest in the upcoming season. The Lilly-Whites will be battling in the Champions League next season and therefore, they needed a player, who has the experience of playing at the top level and we personally think that they have signed a perfect player for the job.

Janssen was instrumental last season for AZ, and his form won his team the 2016 Johan Cruyff Trophy. Janssen was also awarded as the Eredivisie’s young player of the year, which was previously won by the former Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart and the current midfielder Christian Eriksen. With Janssen coming into the squad, the current striker Harry Kane will have to fight for the place as we all know that Pochettino prefers a one striker formation.

It will be a delight to see these two players battling for the spot and for the time being, let’s compare both the players according to their stats of the last season:

Harry Kane
Harry Kane

For the starters, both the players played every single game for their respective teams where Janssen scored 27 goals in the league and Kane scored 25 goals. (There are a total of 34 games in the Eredivisie, on the other hand, 38 games are played in the Premier League)

In their number of appearances, Janssen was named as the man of the match on eight times last season and was also named as the best man in the team for 11 games, while on the other hand, Kane, was named as the man of the match on seven times and 9 times as the best man in the team.

When talking about the shooting accuracy, Harry Kane wins the round as he managed an average shooting accuracy of 60% in which 75 shots were on target, while Janssen had the accuracy of 55%, shooting 63 shots on target. But the Dutch international wins when discussing about the game making abilities as he created 56 chances in which 4 were converted as goals, while Kane had only one assist to his name.

Both possess an average passing accuracy of 73%. Harry Kane, in the previous campaign received 5 cautions, while Janssen was quite a disciplined figure as he was booked only on three occasions. When talking about defending, or can be said at pressing the opponents, Janssen won 50% of his duels overall, while Kane won 43%, but since we know what kind of football is played in England, it would be fair to say that Kane was equivalent to Janssen in the aspect.

This surely was a tough call, but we think we have the winner! Vincent Janssen by a whisker has defeated Harry Kane in this war of stats.
