Every club has their own good luck charm that seems to do the trick for them. While there aren’t many that standouts, mini unbeaten runs certainly stand out for any football team and Tottenham seem to have found their charm in their signing from the summer, Victor Wanyama.

The Kenyan has been brilliant for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and now that Spurs are resurgent and are looking like the team that ran Leicester City so close for the league title last season, there are glowing plaudits for the former Southampton midfielder.

In a recent stat shared (h/t THBN), the Kenyan has stretched his performance from his last team and has not lost a home game in the Premier League since December 2015. That certainly is a great record to hold but when the stats come out, they seem even more impressive.

In the 19 games, Wanyama has played at home since December 2015, he has won 17 and drawn just two with 11 clean sheets thrown in for good measure.

This season has been a revelation for the former Southampton man as he leads his new team in interceptions, tackles won and has been a little bit reckless too when it comes to notching up the most number of fouls.
In the Premier League this season:
Most interceptions (30)
Most tackles won (65)
Most fouls (48)

It is this defensive solidity from Tottenham that has seen them move to nine points of leaders Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table and they do face a tough task in Liverpool on Saturday.

The Reds aren’t playing all that well at the moment but they could be looking to make things difficult for the London side. Tottenham don’t have the best record against the Merseyside club in recent games and Wanyama would play a huge role, such as he did in the 1-0 win over Middlesbrough recently.

Wanyama alongside Mousa Dembele has done a great job for the Spurs midfield this season and they could hold the key to frustrating Liverpool as well. With a lot of power and steel in the heart of the midfield, the duo could nullify Liverpool’s engine and that would be a major setback for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Tottenham have the bit between their teeth and should they be able to keep the Reds quiet in the first half of the game, the points could be theirs for the taking. Liverpool and Tottenham have drawn the last time they met but this game is important for both sides as they look to confirm Champions League qualification for next season.
