Tottenham are preparing to pounce on Real Madrid playmaker Isco after he admitted that he is not happy with the amount of time he is getting on the pitch. According to Mirror, he has said that a decision will be made at the end of the season after analyzing how many minutes he gets to be on the field for the remainder of the season.
He said: “I’m calm. What worries me is to have minutes. A player’s career is small. I’m happy here and would stay many more years. From now until the end of the season, we will make a decision. It is my future at stake.”
Isco has made 24 appearances for Real this season so far and has played about 1356 minutes on the pitch. He has 5 goals and 6 assists to his name, which is quite impressive, given the amount of time he has had on the field.
With the player’s future at the club up in the air, it might be the right time for Tottenham to make use of the situation. The scenario seems quite similar to how rivals Arsenal managed to land Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. Some shrewd negotiation process can get the deal done. However, the kind of player that Isco is, Zidane would think twice before letting him go.
Isco is quite productive when he comes on to the field and is second to none when it comes to technicality. The Spaniard, being the typical Spanish midfielder that he is, would undoubtedly add quality to any team that he may play for and Tottenham are not an exception.
He would certainly lift the Spurs team to a different level. The only factor that Pochettino might have to worry about is the development of Dele Alli. The young English midfielder has been in a league of his own ever since he made his Spurs debut and is an outstanding talent in the squad. Signing Isco would mean Dele Alli sitting out since both the players are playmakers and prefer playing in an advanced midfield role.
Despite few concerns, Isco is certainly a player who would make Spurs a genuine title contender and we’ll have to wait until the end of the season to see if Pochettino moves for the Spaniard.
