Tottenham’s hopes of signing Ross Barkley have been given a boost as Standard Sport claims that the Everton midfielder is willing to move to London should he decide to leave his current club.

The same outlet had claimed that Barkley was a target for Mauricio Pochettino in the winter window but no deal was done between the sides. Tottenham even reportedly offered a swap deal with Moussa Sissoko going the other way but Barkley stayed put.

There is a bit of an issue with his contract as Everton would lose the England international on a free at the end of next season. Ronald Koeman has also stated that should the team fail to extend Barkley’s contract, the player would be sold in the upcoming window.

It was earlier reported that Barkley was not willing to leave the north of England even if he was to quit Everton. That put Manchester City in the driving seat to sign the player up as Pep Guardiola is looking to add more British talent into his side but it is now being reported that Barkley is open to move south.

The touted fee to start negotiations would be around £30 million but in all honesty; Tottenham would have to bid a lot more to take him away from Everton. While Spurs do have a lot of players for their attack, injuries to some of them can curtail their form.

A similar incident has happened with Harry Kane being injured twice for long spells and if Spurs were to lose Christian Eriksen or Dele Alli, it certainly would end up being a tough situation for the side.

Spurs have formed a transfer committee of Daniel Levy, Mauricio Pochettino and John McDermott and the trio wants to sign young players. The problem would be the price points for all these players as Tottenham are to move to a new stadium soon and Barkley could be one player who is too expensive to sign straight out.

Tottenham might have to let one or two players leave or join Everton and it does not look good for Sissoko at the moment. The Frenchman could still play a big part in the deal and it will be interesting to see how this goes in the summer.
