BBC Pundit Urges Winger To Avoid Signing For Tottenham

Reputed BBC pundit Garth Crooks has warned Wilfried Zaha that he should not move to Tottenham in the summer and stay put at Crystal Palace to continue to grow in his career.

Zaha put in a scintillating display against Chelsea, which earned his team a victory over the Blues. He was rightfully placed in the ‘Team of the week’ by Crooks, who believes it would be better for Zaha to stay at Selhurst Park beyond the summer of 2017.

A former Tottenham player himself, Crooks feels Zaha will develop better under Sam Allardyce, despite Mauricio Pochettino’s track record of improving players.

He said: “There is a lot of talk about the Ivorian joining Spurs in the summer. An attractive move for the player I must admit. Who wouldn’t want to add the possibility of playing Champions League football to his international career?

“However, may I suggest that Zaha, having had a disappointing period at Manchester United, takes a pause before considering White Hart Lane. Another season at Crystal Palace under the tutelage of Allardyce may be more beneficial to his overall development.

“Spurs have enough Fancy Dans in their line-up without adding to them. Palace, on the other hand, are in desperate need of flair and exuberance in an otherwise functional, but effective outfit. Still, if Zaha insists on a move to the Lane, who could blame him?”

Zaha has been heavily linked with Tottenham and the speculation looks never ending. It would be safe to assume that there would be no smoke without fire and hence something might be happening in the background regarding a potential move in the future.

However, the move would not be an easy one as Palace are reportedly determined to keep hold of the player by offering him a new deal.

While Crooks’ opinion might differ from what we feel about this transfer saga, there is no doubt that Wilfried Zaha is a talented lad. Yes, he might have flopped at Manchester United earlier but it does not necessarily mean that he will never succeed at a big club.

The player is 24 and the time might just be right to give another try at a big club. Now that he has spent a couple of seasons at Palace after the Man Utd debacle, he would surely be confident and determined to prove himself as a big time player.

Do you think Zaha would succeed at Tottenham?
