Tottenham’s season isn’t over yet but they already are planning for arrivals ahead of next season. Mauricio Pochettino would be looking to go one better next time around and the Argentine has been looking to bring in attacking talents for a number of months.
Wilfried Zaha is one of the players that has been tracked by Spurs from the winter window but with the price tag of the Ivory Coast winger rising with every game, Tottenham are now going to move for Bruma from Galatasaray.
According to the Turkish outlet Fotomac (h/t Football London), the Premier League club have sent out representatives to complete a deal with Galatasaray and ensure that Bruma does join Spurs in the summer.
The 22-year-old hasn’t made an appearance for the Portuguese senior national side but he has been amongst the goals for the Turkish club this season. The winger has scored 10 times and has chipped in with six assists from 25 league games and that seems to have convinced that Bruma is the man for Spurs.
One of the reasons why Spurs want to sign him up quickly is that Galatasaray only want £12.6 million for a player that joined them in 2013. That amount is considerably lower than what Crystal Palace have been asking for Zaha and could turn out to be a decent investment for the future.
The report claims that Manchester United also want to sign the Portuguese winger up and hence the rush from Spurs officials to complete the deal.
Our Verdict
Tottenham do need to have quality players for next season as the need to rotate the squad will be paramount to their Champions League aspirations. But Bruma, for all his goal scoring prowess does seem to be a strange choice for a signing by Pochettino.
He hasn’t played in one of the bigger leagues in Europe and there is a degree of risk involved when it comes to his signing. However, the £12.6 million valuation certainly makes the 22-year-old a cheap option to try out with little risk than splurging huge amounts as done with other signings made by the club.
