Moussa Sissoko of Tottenham

Tottenham are reportedly not ready to accept anything less than £25.9 million for French midfielder Moussa Sissoko, who only joined the club last summer. Sissoko arrived at Tottenham for £30million (split over 5 seasons) amidst much expectation after an impressive Euro’16 tournament with France, which they finished as runners-up to Portugal.

Sissoko sizzled for his country last summer and that saw him earn his move to White Hart Lane on the deadline day. However, it was rather considered a panic buy as it happened on the final day of the transfer window. Unfortunately, Sissoko has struggled a lot this season.

The French midfielder has received a lot of criticism for his performances and a lot of uncertainty has surrounded his future as well.Various reports emerged regarding the midfielder’s potential exit from the club and one such report from French publication Le Journal Du Dimanche claimed that Marseille are preparing an offer of £21.6million with a view of making Sissoko one of their key signings of the summer.

However, Tuesday’s print edition of French newspaper L’Equipe says that Sissoko will not be sold for anything less than £25.9million.

The amount isn’t too low and hence it is not a loss which is too difficult to bear. It is wise on Daniel Levy’s part to play hardball with the negotiations as we have no necessity to sell the player.

Nevertheless, it is hard to see Sissoko be given another chance to prove himself, unlike Vincent Janssen who has shown some signs of improvement despite his poor start to the campaign.

Sissoko’s dismal campaign would actually reduce his transfer value by a lot of millions but the fact that his contract with Tottenham runs until 2021 keeps his price within a decent range of the original fee that Spurs will shell out over the course of his stay at White Hart Lane.

Sissoko made a total of 34 appearances and provided 4 assists to his teammates, with no goals to show for. Now that the season is over, Pochettino can finally workout if he needs the Frenchman in his squad or not.

Do you think Levy should keep hold of Moussa Sissoko?
