Kyle Walker

Tottenham Hostpur are reportedly set to lose Kyle Walker this summer as reports have emerged saying Manchester City are closing in on a £40million deal for the Englishman. So it really looks like it’s happening! Well well well. The report also claims that City would be paying close to £100,000-a-week for the 27-year old.

Walker lost his place in the Tottenham XI in the final few weeks of the season as he was replaced by Kieran Trippier in the line-up. Walker seems to have completely fallen out of favour with Mauricio Pochettino and it is likely that there is no way back for the pair to get back to good terms.

According to Daily Star, Etihad bosses are confident of completing a £40m move for Walker once England’s games with Scotland and France have taken place. Pep Guardiola made Walker one of his main targets six months ago and wants the deal done before the end of this month with signing a right-back a priority for the Spaniard.

Kyle made 39 appearances this season and registered 6 assists. There is no doubt that he is the best right-back in the country right now. The fact that Pep wants him at City is a testament to that. However, we don’t have a choice other than selling the player, even if it is to a rival.

It would be extremely toxic to have an unsettled player at the club. If money is his motive, then let him leave. Nobody is irreplaceable in football and Walker is not an exception. Of course, he will be missed, but Pochettino is more than capable of winning games without Kyle Walker.

Obviously, Walker will come out and say that he did not move for the sake of money and all the other usual clichés but the ultimate fact is known by all and it is not going to change either. If money was not the issue, what else can be? He is one of the senior most players at the club, the fans love(d) him, and is one of the first names on the teamsheet. There’s no apparent reason for him to leave other than money.

  1. Why does Levy not pay the man what he’s worth, he’s supposed to be one of the best right backs in the premiership, if that’s the case pay him our top wage and keep him. If he goes to City on £100,000 a week questions will be asked of our board and wage policy.

  2. “He also wants to move back up north” another load of tripe that could only come from a Londoner, wrong side of the Penines to have any relevance, as any northerner will tell you!
