Tottenham Identify Ricardo Pereira as Kyle Walker’s Replacement
The hunt for Kyle Walker’s replacement seems to continue as a host of names are getting linked with a move to our club. The latest player now to be linked with us is OGC Nice’s Ricardo Pereira. The versatile Portuguese had a good season with Nice and has now emerged as one of our options to replace Kyle Walker.
What’s The Story?
Pereira is valued at £20million and is only 23-years old. According to the Mirror, Mauricio Pochettino has identified Ricardo Pereira as the man he wants to replace Kyle Walker as Tottenham ‘s right-back. The report also says that Manchester City will open talks with Spurs this week over their £40million attempt to sign England international Walker .
They claim that the talks for Walker’s move will begin anytime now as England’s international friendly with France is done. Amidst Walker’s possible departure, Spurs have identified Pereira as the man to take over as Tottenham’s right-back.
Who Is Ricardo Pereira And How Does He Play?
The youngster has 2 caps for Portugal and made 30 appearances for Nice last season. He contributed directly to 6 goals (2 goals and 4 assists). Pereira is capable of playing as a full-back and also as an attacking winger. This should probably make him suitable to play as a wing-back, thus giving as an idea as to how Poch is preparing the squad for next season. We did use a 3-back system and Pereira seems like a good option considering that he is capable of playing as a right-back, right winger, and also as a left-back.
He’d be a valuable addition to our team for sure. Ricardo Periera is an absolutely complete player, considering his attributes. He is so strong with his dribbling, he is an excellent passer, and also has good ball retention skills. Pereira is strong in the air and is good in his tackles. Pereira is someone who uses his head well, from the inside, and from the outside as well.
The 23-year old is quite mature and composed for his age and he doesn’t seem to have any apparent weaknesses. He likes to tackle, likes to dribble and draws a lot of fouls because of this. All in all, Ricardo Pereira for £20million seems to be a good replacement for the Englishman and it would be job well done if we manage to bring the Portuguese youngster to our club.
