In a massive turn of an event, Everton have officially confirmed that their 23-year-old midfielder Ross Barkley has been left out of the squad which has travelled to Tanzania on Tuesday night. Citing the reason, the Toffees have quoted that he has been left out due to “a groin injury for which he is receiving treatment”.
Three of their new signings – Wayne Rooney, Michael Keane and Davy Klaassen have joined the travelling side, while the likes of Jordan Pickford and Sandro Ramirez, who participated in the Under-21 European Championship, will return later this month.
Tottenham have been heavily linked with the 23-year-old Three-Lion. Barkley, who only has one more year left in his current Everton deal, is yet to put pen to a new contract, and if the reports are to be believed, he might well leave the Goodison this summer.
There are high chances that he will reject any new offer Everton put on the table, hence, Ronald Koeman will look to gather a bit of capital by sanctioning his sale this summer rather than losing him for free next year. This is a transfer story that has been going on for a while now and we hope it comes to a conclusion soon.
Having said that, Tottenham fans were spotted having mixed emotions and this is how they reacted to the news.
