Moussa Sissoko might be out of our hands as The Sun reports that the 27-year-old could be moving to West Bromwich Albion after a rather disastrous season with Tottenham.
The French midfielder signed for us in a £30million deal from Newcastle United but failed to make an impression for us and it was only a matter of time before we decided to sell him off. The big question was how much we would be getting for him and the report claims that the Baggies would be paying in the region of £20million for Sissoko.
While that is far from the original price we paid for Sissoko, Daniel Levy must have tried his best to get rid of the player for as much as possible. £20million is not the worst deal and we should close this as soon as possible.
Sissoko needs to play regularly ahead of the upcoming World Cup and sticking with Spurs would not give him a lot of chances. In fact, last season he took part in 34 games in all competitions but failed to find the back of the net and only provided 3 assists for the Lilywhites.
It isn’t a surprise that we are pushing ahead with the deal and the sooner we can get some money for Sissoko, the quicker we can invest it in other players. Sissoko didn’t really have a future at Spurs and it is another major big money signing that has failed to perform at Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino.
Another major concern would be the lack of signings coming into the club and with Kyle Walker going to Manchester City, the lack of reinforcements will certainly peg us behind the likes of the other top six teams in the Premier League.
We cannot afford such failures ahead of this season and that could be a reason why we still have not dipped into the transfer market yet. Not building upon an impressive season where we finished second would be criminal to our Premier League aspirations.
What we do know is that Sissoko will not be a part of our squad next season and that there will be some sort of good news ahead of the campaign.
