Turkish club Fenerbahce have agreed on a deal to sign Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen on a season-long loan. The news sent Twitter into a frenzy as fans poured out their thoughts on the deal.

The 23-year-old is in Turkey to undergo a medical and sign a deal but it is just a formality as the move is expected to go through without any hiccups. The Dutch striker joined Spurs only last season from AZ Alkmaar for a reported fee of £18.6million.

It wasn’t a happy time for the striker at White Hart Lane as he endured a frustrating period. He scored just six goals in all competitions and some of them have been penalties. That just indicates how difficult it was for him at the club.

His poor form meant that manager Mauricio Pochettino did not give him game time even when Harry Kane was injured. There is a school of thought that Janssen did not get enough chances to impress and that the first year in Premier League is always tough.

However, with the deadline day signing of Fernando Llorente, it is all but sure now that Janssen will not get any time, even in the cup competitions. The only way to salvage his stalled career is a loan move. Having rejected the overtures of three Premier League clubs in the summer, he is now set to move to Turkey.

Interestingly, he will join another Spurs flop Roberto Soldado at Fenerbahce and Twitterati couldn’t hide their surprise over this partnership.

This fan sarcastically mentioned that he can’t wait to see Soldado and Janssen take the field together.
