Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris joined his manager Mauricio Pochettino in echoing the sentiment that Harry Kane could do a great job for the club.
After Pochettino professed his ‘love’ for the England international striker, Lloris said that Kane does a similar job for the North London club as the likes of Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo do for their club.
The 24-year-old Kane is in red-hot form this month after a barren spell in August. He scored his sixth hat-trick of the year to help his side on Tuesday, to a 3-0 victory over Apoel Nicosia in the Champions League.
The youngster has been one of the top strikers in England for the last three seasons and is determined to prove himself on the European stage this year. He is currently the top scorer in the Champions League although it is early days of action.
The England striker is widely considered as one of the best of his generation. Some Spurs supporters even think that he could one day break the hegemony of Ronaldo and Messi to win the Ballon d’Or award.
Lloris echoed the same sentiments and said (Sky Sports):
“In every big team, you have a big goalscorer. In Tottenham, it is Harry Kane. I think for him he has got a lot of things to prove in the Champions League. He shows his quality and skills at the moment.
“He is our main player, like in top teams, in Real Madrid you have Ronaldo, in Barca you have Messi.”
The biggest positive that Kane brings to the side is his positive mindset. Even during his barren August spell, Kane made sure that he gave his best to the side and was always on the lookout for goals.
The best part of all this is that he is still only 24 years old, which means his best years are yet to come. England team too will hope that he continues his good form for the national side.
Like Lloris said, Kane has 5 goals from 2 games and considering his form, skills, and hunger to lead from the front, there could be more in store. Tottenham travel to Huddersfield on Saturday for their Premier League encounter and Kane would be looking to continue his scoring form.
How practical is Lloris’ prediction about Kane challenging Messi and Ronaldo? Kane is already one of the best strikers in England and if he continues his impressive goal scoring form, it won’t be long before he proves Lloris correct.
