Tottenham Ready To Complete Deal For Winger – Pochettino Gives Green Signal If £30m Price Tag Is Accepted

Moussa Sissoko

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly ready to listen to the offers of £30million for Moussa Sissoko just 18 months after signing midfielder from Newcastle United.

The 28-year-old midfielder joined Tottenham back in 2016 after famously rejecting Everton but has hardly done anything to get into the good books of the Tottenham faithful. With him being only a back-up now, a report from the Daily Mirror has claimed that Pochettino is now ready to offload him but only for the same fee he bought him for.

The Argentine is said to be keen on increasing the depth in his squad this month and in doing so, he is ready to sacrifice Sissoko in the process. The Frenchman, even at the time of joining, seemed to be a gamble given that he was highly inconsistent during his time with the Magpies, but Pochettino, on his part, was convinced about his ability and reacted faster than Everton to acquire his signature.

A former Magpie, Sissoko could only manage 8 Premier League games last season and although he has improved his numbers – 11 starts thus far –  he has hardly been impressive. Pochettino is said to have watched enough and is now ready to offload him if a potential suitor does contact him with a viable offer.

Given Sissoko’s current form, it is difficult to see any team agreeing to Tottenham’s terms of paying £30million for his services. Talking numbers, the Frenchman went goalless for the entire Premier League season last term and has been highly unconvincing in the current campaign as well; despite having scored a goal this season.

Furthermore, as things stand for the Tottenham fans, they have time and again expressed that they want Pochettino to sell the Frenchman but it now remains to be seen whether the Argentine will really sanction the sale or not. Meanwhile, in terms of transfers, Tottenham are said to be targeting Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez who is likely to leave the King Power this month or in the next transfer window. If his services are indeed acquired, Sissoko might see himself getting a ticket out of Wembley.
