Tottenham Look To Sign 14-Goal Hotshot Rated At €40 Million – Enquiry Has Already Been Made

Tottenham are one of a number of Premier League clubs that are chasing after Moussa Marega, who has been in incredible form for Porto this season. A report on Foot Mercato and suggests that we would have to pay around €40m to sign the Mali international.

The other clubs looking to steal a march on us include Manchester United, Leicester City, Chelsea and Brighton. The 26-year-old has become one of the best strikers in the country and it comes as no surprise that he is being linked with a move away in January.

Marega has scored 14 goals this season and has 4 assists to his name in all competitions. The player is aerially great and is good when it comes to finishing, which would make him perfect for our playing style but he isn’t known for his defensive abilities or tracking back. So that is something Mauricio Pochettino would have to work on, should we sign the Malian.

The report also suggests that we have spoken to Porto about signing the striker in the January window but the Portuguese side are unwilling to let him go anytime soon. Porto face Liverpool in the first knockout round of the Champions League and will need a striker of Marega’s ability to perform if they are to make it to the next round.

However, if the club receives a bid close to the €40m asking price of Marega, they just might sell him given that Porto are known to be a selling club, as we have seen with the likes of Jackson Martinez and Radamel Falcao.

A Good Move For Spurs But What Will Marega Give Us?

Tottenham have been facing an issue when it comes to finding cover for Harry Kane and they might have hit the jackpot with Marega. While the 26-year-old can play as a lone striker, Marega can also be deployed on either side of the attack or as an attacking midfielder too, which would give Pochettino a lot of tinkering options.

The Malian would not be replacing Kane anytime soon but one thing is given, he would provide us with a different option up front and is possibly the replacement for Fernando Llorente as the Spaniard has failed to shine for us since his move from Swansea City.
