Arsenal’s January deals could start a transfer merry-go-round to help Tottenham sign Brazilian – Report

Tottenham Hotspur target Lucas Moura has opened the door to a January transfer, with the flying Brazilian winger admitting that it will be ‘very difficult’ to stay at Paris Saint-Germain. Moura has fallen out of favour at PSG following the high-profile arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in the summer.

The 25-year-old winger has failed to start a single game this season, making just 6 appearances in all competitions. The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks, while Spurs have shown an interest in taking him on loan.

Linked with a move away from the French capital following a lack of games so far this season, Le10 Sport (h/t Football.London) claimed that Spurs were one of a number of clubs keen to sign the player before the transfer window shuts.

Moura has admitted that he expects to leave Paris before the January transfer window shuts, before talking up a move to the Premier League.

“It feels like the end of a story for me, unfortunately,” Moura was quoted by Sky Sports, before adding that it will be “very difficult” to stay.

When asked about the Premier League, the Brazilian added:

“English football pleases me a lot. It’s the most keenly contested.”

The former Sao Paulo man would be eligible to play in the Champions League, having not featured in any of PSG’s six group stage matches. Moura has helped PSG to 16 honours during his time at the club, including 4 Ligue 1 titles, scoring 46 goals and providing 50 assists in 229 appearances.

However, with the Old Trafford side looking increasingly likely to land Alexis Sanchez, Spurs could well be in the driving seat to land Moura. We certainly could use a player of Moura’s quality on the wings and the Brazilian offers an additional option to Pochettino, with the club still fighting on three fronts.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou has left Spurs to join Burnley on loan and we lack an out-and-out winger in the first-team squad. For us, landing Moura would be an uphill task, with plenty of other European heavyweights surely keeping tabs on the South American’s situation at PSG.

Now despite the competition from United, what could work in our favour is the fact that Arsenal are willing to sell Alexis Sanchez. United are keen on signing the Chilean and if they do, we’d be in the driving seat to sign Moura. So basically, Arsenal would be doing us a huge transfer favour this month.

Spurs really need Moura and Pochettino should act quickly to pull off a transfer coup this January.
